Fine Accent Pieces
Cherry & Walnut Keepsake Chest
Engineered as an exploration in larger-scale tabletop casework, this keepsake chest elevates everyday or sentimental storage into a highly structured heirloom. Roughly the size of a footwear box, the piece transitions away from Kumiko accents to focus entirely on striking wood species contrast and tactile, organic textures. The exterior balances warm cherry with a dark walnut lid lift and natural hemp twine handles, a theme that seamlessly carries into the interior. Designed for versatile organization, the chest utilizes specialized hardware to allow hands-free access to a completely customizable, multi-tiered tray system inside.

- Heavy-duty, intricately wound natural hemp twine handles on the exterior sides for a grounded, organic aesthetic.
- Matching twine-wrapped handles on the internal walnut dividers to unify the interior and exterior design.
- Finish: Naturally finished with clear shellac to enhance the depth of the cherry and walnut while preserving the raw tactile contrast of the wood and fiber elements.
Sapele & Kumiko Tabletop Humidor
Conceived as the definitive companion piece to a premium spirits cabinet, this tabletop humidor extends the distinct aesthetic of traditional Japanese latticework into a specialized, climate-controlled vault. The design invites a visual journey, drawing the eye from the front-mounted brass hygrometer around to the shop’s signature hand-cut dovetails. The focal point is a unique “holding hands” Kumiko panel inlaid into the lid. This specific pattern offers a more open, transparent design, allowing the owner to proudly display their cigar collection without opening the vault, all while maintaining the rigorous, tight-tolerance friction fit inherent to the craft.
The Details
- Dimensions & Form: Small-to-medium tabletop humidor designed for dedicated cigar storage and premium display. Holds between 35 – 50 cigars
- Primary Timber: Solid Sapele (Exterior Box), chosen for its striking ribbon grain and sophisticated warmth.
- Lid & Inlay: A transparent display lid featuring a hand-fit Basswood Kumiko panel in the more open “holding hands” pattern.
- Case Joinery: Signature hand-cut dovetail joints, applied both for unyielding mechanical strength and stylistic continuity across the shop’s collections.
- Internal Architecture: Lined seamlessly in pure Spanish cedar along the sides and bottom to naturally regulate moisture. The storage layout features exactly two small, removable top trays that are custom-drilled using a Forstner bit to ensure proper air circulation and ventilation throughout the box.
- Hardware: A front-mounted bright brass hygrometer and premium quadrant-style brushed brass hinges, selected to develop a rich patina that complements the whiskey-and-cigar aesthetic.
- Climate Control: Includes a dedicated humidifier to perfectly maintain internal conditions for long-term storage.
- Finish: Sealed with a red-tinted shellac to dramatically deepen the Sapele’s natural iridescence and make the rich tones pop.
